About the 107 Partnership Brokers

Across Australia, 107 organisations are funded by the Commonwealth of Australia, as represented by the Department of Education, to deliver the Partnership Brokers program.

The Partnership Brokers Program builds partnerships with schools, businesses and community groups and develops programs to help students at risk of disengaging with school overcome barriers to continue their learning and attain Year 12 or equivalent qualifications.

The partnerships are designed to address barriers faced by young people in a strategic and self-sustaining way, often tackling long term social and structural issues which have been difficult for schools and communities to address.

The Partnership Brokers Program has supported more than 1,450 active and self-sustaining partnerships involving more than 4,700 partner organisations. New partnerships continue to form every week across Australia.

So what is a Partnership Broker?

Partnership Brokers operate in each state and territory and are responsible for identifying areas within their region where young people are at risk of disengaging with school. The Partnership Broker undertakes research and networking within the community to find suitable businesses, schools and/or community groups to partner and engage with those at risk. The Partnership Broker brings all the parties together to develop a solution, and advises partners through the course of implementing that solution.

Our Priorities:

  • Addressing the needs of at-risk young people
  • Increasing Indigenous engagement and attainment
  • Supporting the transition of young people from secondary schooling to further education, training or employment
